twinme - private messenger & voice/video calls

twinme brings freedom and privacy to your online conversations.

You can chat and make free voice and video calls without providing any personal information: no login/password, no phone number, no email address, no social network ID. All you need is a data connection (Wi-Fi or 3G/4G/LTE).

Messages and High Definition voice and video calls are operated in peer-to-peer, with no server in between. Exchanged content remains on the devices.

twinme lets “you” define how your contacts identify you (a name, an image) to interact with you remotely, just like in real life: your children call you “Mom” or “Dad”, your lover calls you “Honey”, your friends “Pal”, and your clients “Doctor”.
You can revoke the identity you shared with someone at any time to stop this contact from reaching you anymore. No unsolicited calls, no harassment, no spam.
“You” are in control! And moreover, it's fun!

As opposed to most “free” mobile applications, twinme carries no advertising, so nobody needs to know your personal data.

twinme is based on WebRTC, the new open source protocol standard for secure real-time multimedia communications on the web.

GETTING STARTED

Enter the "profile" (name and image) you want to use to invite your twinme contacts.

twinme does not peek into your address book(s) to grab your contacts personal information, so you need to:

1. “Invite” contacts via a QR-Code if the person is next to you, or by email, text, social network, web site otherwise;

2. Each of your contacts accepting your invitation via his/her twinme application sends back his/her profile, which is “paired” with yours in a unique way;

3. Each end can now send messages or make voice or video calls to the other by simply “tapping” his/her image.

INTERACTING WITH CONTACTS

Tap the contact entry and select the type of communication: chat, voice, video, fast text, or note.

CHAT CONVERSATIONS

Tapping the chat icon opens an asynchronous peer-to-peer chat conversation with that contact or continues a previously opened conversation with that contact, even without a working network connection.
Conversations happen in peer to peer, with messages stored on each of the contacts' device and exchanged in the background as soon as possible.
A conversation can be reset by one of the peer contact (using the red button) to clear all messages exchanged up to that point on both sides.
Multiple conversations with different contacts can be opened at the same time.

Note: Messages are exchanges using WebRTC data channels, meaning there is no user data going through a twinme server. twinme servers are only involved to open WebRTC connections between contacts.

MANAGING CONTACTS

- You can “Edit your name and image representing you to each of your Contacts” at any time.
