Whether you already love New York’s Christmas Windows, or whether you’ve never had the chance to check out the fabulous displays, this Chase is your essential companion to the holiday decorations from Macy’s, to Fifth Avenue, to Bloomingdale’s, and everything in between. This year’s actual displays are still a secret, so don’t expect us to tell you what exactly what you will see, but as you experience one spectacle after another, we’ll walk you through the Christmas Window tradition, and spill the beans on the larger than life stories of the city’s iconic retail houses. Tattoos, elephants, Canadian imposters, the Dutch Crown Jewels, mechanical horses, Presidential cheapness, burning skirts, supercilious French designers, lackadaisical French tailors and ingenious French smugglers, women shackled and women freed by the dictates of high fashion – we cover it all.

PlaceChase Christmas includes eight Places between 34th and 59th Streets. Our curated exploration offers a full morning or afternoon of holiday enchantment, with some delightful only-in-NYC stories to boot, or take the deep dive into a single Place on your lunch hour or coffee break. As always, we include a host of historical images to go along with each Place. While we’ve incorporated the scavenger hunt that is our signature feature, we’ve made it so easy – there are fewer challenges, they’re all multiple choice and we tell you exactly where to go. Follow our route or make up your own - you can explore the Places in any order, all at your own pace.

In common with all of our Chases, once you have downloaded the app, no further internet connectivity is required to enjoy your Chase. You may binge-Chase in a single session, or ration out the goodies as you choose. You may take the Chase as often as you wish. There is no advertising, we do not collect your data, and there’s no GPS usage to kill your battery.
